Sun Chemical publishes regulatory newsletter

The biannual update covers the German ink ordinance, BPA ban and China FCM changes.

Sun Chemical has released its Spring 2026 Regulatory Newsletter, covering legislative developments affecting packaging, inks and pigments across Europe, the UK, China and North America.

Key updates in the spring edition include amendments to the German Consumer Goods Ordinance that introduce substances under the German Ink Ordinance, and an extension of the transition period for printed food-contact materials to December 31, 2026. The newsletter also covers a proposed UK Food Standards Agency ban on bisphenol A and related bisphenols in food contact materials, aligning with existing EU regulation, and proposed changes by China's National Centre for Food Safety Risk Assessment to expand its permitted substances list for food contact materials.

Further updates include a revised tolerable weekly intake for dioxins proposed by the European Food Safety Authority, and EU ministerial approval to postpone provisions under the revised CLP Regulation to January 1, 2028 as part of a broader chemical simplification package.

'Sun Chemical releases regulatory newsletters twice a year to make it easier for our customers to comply with the regulations that affect their businesses today and plan for regulations that will affect their business tomorrow,' said Bob Kendrick, director of corporate regulatory at Sun Chemical.
