GMG releases new ColorProof iteration

GMG Color Americas has released GMG ColorProof 5.18, the latest version of its digital color proofing platform. With this new iteration, packaging and label teams can now proof brand colors on the real paper, film, foil or corrugated board before a job reaches press.
 
Proofing directly on the production substrate closes the gap between what proofing shows and what the press delivers. The capability arrives through new support for the Mutoh ValueJet 628MP, a multi-purpose inkjet for both 24in roll and sheet-fed substrates. Running MP31 inks, including white, it prints straight onto production materials with eco-solvent-grade durability and strong weather and abrasion resistance, keeping color vibrant and true to each substrate. Supporting up to eight colors, it handles contract proofs on production stock plus packaging prototypes and mockups.
 
Paper proofing stays fast, accurate and cost-effective for the vast majority of work, but for substrate-critical jobs, GMG ColorProof 5.18 adds a physical, on-material reference that removes the guesswork about how color will behave on the final material. The 628MP is fully integrated with GMG OpenColor, and GMG ColorProof's Calibration Creation Wizard lets teams build custom calibration sets and output conditions for profiling in OpenColor 3.4 and later.

'Paper gets you there for most jobs, but when a brand color has to deliver on metalized film or kraft corrugate, teams want to hold that result in their hands before they commit the run. Now they can, with the latest version of GMG ColorProof. That's what keeps the outcome predictable instead of a surprise at the press.'
 
GMG ColorProof 5.18 also adds features such as cloud-based email notifications that remove the need for a local mail server, recipient-side nesting to cut media use in remote proofing, new 'Last Used' and 'Last Changed' asset visibility, hostname support for easier GMG OpenColor server migration, and new ink sets and print modes for the Roland LG Series. The update is available now and is already included for users on an active Software Update Contract (SUC).
