CGS and Esko to demo flex pack proofing system

- ORIS Flex Pack // Web delivers contract-quality proofs and prototypes for any kind of flexible or rigid packaging
- CGS to also unveil new transfer media, allowing proofing on almost any original printing substrate
CGS and Esko will demonstrate the newly launched ORIS Flex Pack // Web contract proofing solution, which has been designed as a highly cost-effective, on-demand alternative to "slow and expensive legacy systems for packaging proofing".
The pair will showcase the solution at the Packaging Innovations show, taking place in London on October 4-5.
CGS will also unveil a new transfer media, which allows proofing on almost any original printing substrate, such as PET, PE, aluminum and the like.
The solution bundle includes the ORIS software and the Roland VersaCAMM VS series wide format printer, plus a full range of proofing media and the option to connect to the Esko Color Engine spot color database.
In addition to the newly formulated CMYK inks, plus white and metallic ink, this solution also features orange and green XG inks. These new XG inks offer an extended gamut and larger printable color space, so that almost all Pantone colors can be reproduced to contract proofing standards.
This allows the ORIS Flex Pack // Web solution to deliver contract-quality proofs and prototypes for any kind of flexible or rigid packaging.
Heiner Mueller, key account director in Europe at CGS, said: ‘The exhibition gives us an excellent opportunity to showcase ORIS Flex Pack // Web, our new turnkey solution for flexible packaging proofing and mock-up production, along with the new, revolutionary transfer media.
‘We believe this turn-key system will provide design agencies, repro houses and in-house packaging departments with huge savings in consumable costs and production time without any compromise on the quality or the consistency of the packaging proof.’
Paul Bates, Esko business manager for the UK and Ireland, said: ‘We’re looking forward to working with CGS at Packaging Innovations as it’s another great opportunity to show how much Esko has evolved into a color-focused company.
‘If the PantoneLIVE project is to succeed then it must be a demonstrably open system and working with CGS is also another clear example of this. Sharing profiles and color data is essential to consistent global branding and therefore to the value our industry can offer brand owners.
‘Despite rapid advances in 3D visualization software for packaging, at the end of the day a tangible, color accurate final proof is still what every brand owner wants to see, and very likely always will. Therefore it’s essential that proof production can be color managed regardless of print process, and CGS’s software and the Roland print solutions will demonstrate the full extent of Esko’s open philosophy.”
