EFI Jetrion launches 4950 LX

EFI Jetrion introduced the 4950LX, said to bring higher resolution, faster throughput and full LED curing to the Jetrion 4900 models at Labelexpo Europe. Each uses EFI’s Fiery digital front-end for high performance and color management.

The LED curing modules have a lamp life of over 5,000 hours for curing a large number of primary labels. The printheads give an image resolution of up to 720 x 720dpi and are capable of reproducing fine two-point text. LED curing is also said to allow the economic printing of thin films and traditionally difficult substrates, further increasing overall flexibility for flexible packaging and shrink sleeves. An opaque white ink will be offered as an option in mid-2014. It is already available on earlier 4900 series UV inkjet models, but will not have the same limitations of around 10 percent on full press speeds.

Also new is a varnish/lamination module for the 4900M, which includes an inline laser cutter available in single-head (500W) or dual-head (1000W) configurations for web width up to 330mm. The company is also showing its new web-to-print tool for packaging companies and packaging ERP/MIS products.
