RotoMetrics opens new Converting Technology Center

RotoMetrics has opened a new Converting Technology Center near its headquarters in St Louis, Missouri, USA. The center spans 2,000 square feet (186 square meters) and provides visitors with live demonstrations of the company’s die-cutting and modular processing equipment.
Additionally, the area serves as a research and development center. Steve Lee, vice-president of technology, said: ‘This is a one-of-a-kind product demo center to show converters just how impressive this equipment is. Customers have been anxious to see their products perform when running live converting applications and now we are able to fulfill that request by showing them first-hand exactly how much more productive their operations can be. It also allows our R&D team to engineer and test products that keep RotoMetrics and our customers at the forefront of technology.’
The featured product on display is a 26-inch rotary processing module, designed to convert a wide range of materials such as flexible packaging, folding cartons and pressure-sensitive labels. Applications include creasing, die-cutting and embossing with solid or flexible dies in processing widths up to 34 inches (863mm). ‘Converters want to maximize efficiency on high-output, high-speed applications, so RotoMetrics designed this product to fulfill those needs,’ said Ulrich Kretzschmar, business development manager at RotoMetrics. ‘The rotary processing module delivers on the industry's increased need for accuracy in flexible packaging, especially for the growing resealable packaging market.’
Also on display is a 16-inch Pantec Electroman hot foil stamping system. Andy Schmitz, product manager, noted: ‘The Pantec system utilizes a unique, oil encapsulated hybrid mandrel which allows for even heat distribution across the cylinder surface. Electrical energy is used to heat the mandrel, while the encapsulated oil ensures efficient heat transfer and offers clean, safe and reliable operation. The system is engineered to allow a retrofit into most existing flexo presses.’
