Benson Group has hosted a delegation from Singapore on a visit to the UK to uncover best practice principals for the work environment.

The delegation visited the Benson site in Bardon in mid-June, as well as visiting the Jaguar car manufacturing plant and meeting with UK union personnel participating in and speaking at a conference organized by the Trades Union Congress (TUC).

The group of eight, including representatives from the Ministry of Manpower, National Trades Union Congress and the Singapore National Employers Federation, was headed by Lim Swee Say, secretary-general of the Singapore National Trades Union Congress.

The trip aimed to uncover some of the best practices of UK companies in the work environment, in the areas of employee safety, productivity improvements, skills training and career opportunities.

The Benson Bardon facility came to the attention of Mr Lim and his team after the food carton manufacturing site won an award in the skills management category at the Best Factory Awards.

Mark Kerridge, managing director of Benson Group, said: ‘Receiving accolades, such as a Best Factory Award, really does put our business in the spotlight.

‘We are more than happy to demonstrate our facilities and to discuss our unique approach to the UK’s complex and fast-paced food packaging industry.’
