Royston Labels supports Silent Pool’s gin release with intricate label
Specialist label manufacturer Royston Labels has produced a series of labels for Surrey, UK-based gin distiller Silent Pool to complement its hand-crafted artisan spirit collection, including a yet to be commercialized product primarily for the Swedish market.

Labels for the Admiral Collingwood Navy Strength Gin were designed in celebration of Admiral Collingwood, a Sea Lord who was involved in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, and who also happens to be related to Silent Pool master distiller Cory Mason.
The intricate, complex label design was printed on one of Royston Labels’ combination printing presses using 10 colors and UV flexo to achieve the detail the imagery required. Incorporating a high metallized look in different colors, the label features a distinctive and unique embossed textured finish on a synthetic substrate to create the look and feel of parchment paper, in keeping with historical and distinguished style of the design.
Phil Bradnam, Royston Labels technical manager said: ‘When the day came to produce the label, the whole process ran very smoothly with just a few tweaks required here and there. As a result of our ongoing development and continual innovation, we used a new embossed textured finish on a synthetic substrate to really make the label stand out; it was something we hadn’t attempted before on a self-adhesive label, but it worked well and we are delighted with the result.’
Ian McCulloch, Silent Pool co-founder, said: ‘Royston Labels was able to provide expert support that enabled us to translate an innovative and eye-catching design into a practical label that can be easy applied. The production team ensured that we were able to access the latest print technology and that in turn enabled us to really push the design.’
