Clondalkin strengthens its Engineered Films business unit

The Clondalkin Group has revealed a multi-million euro investment and new senior management team for its recently launched Engineered Films business unit, as part of a renewed business structure within its Flexible Packaging Division.

Jeroen van der Meer is the new business unit director of Engineered Films, and he will spearhead the next stage of development for the business unit supported by an experienced and dedicated management team.  Joerg Soehngen becomes operations director and will be responsible for all the manufacturing and supply chain activities of the business unit, while Christian Claes is the new sales and marketing director, and Watze Roorda retains his position of technology and innovation director.

John Fitzgerald, CEO of Clondalkin Group’s Flexible Packaging Division, said: ‘I am delighted to announce the appointment of our new senior management team within our Engineered Films business unit, along with the important news of our multi-million euro investment programme.  The structural changes facilitated a massive investment in our German and Dutch plants, which will come on stream early in 2011. This program of capital investment will further ensure that our sites continue to operate to world class standards, satisfying both the product and service needs of our clients.’

The investment in new equipment for Engineered Films includes two 10-color flexo presses, one blown film extruder for high barrier films, one cast film extruder for barrier films, a laminator and a bio converting line.  The Engineered Films business unit offers the Group’s existing and potential clients a wider range of packaging solutions, in particular, shared extrusion, printing, lamination and conversion technology solutions across its plants.
