Sapna installs Wanjie press

Indian converter adds intermittent offset capacity for short-run pharmaceutical and luxury labels.

Sapna Label House has purchased a Wanjie Advance 350 intermittent offset press at its Ahmedabad facility to expand capacity for pharmaceutical and luxury packaging labels.

The press features full servo drive and rotary die cutting, cold foil on movable and rotatable bars, auto remote ink control and CIP3 software. Wanjie India provided installation support, signaling a strategic shift for the Surat-based converter to diversify operations and respond to increased demand for shorter-run orders.

'Market demand patterns have evolved. Customers are increasingly looking for smaller volumes and speedier deliveries. We are receiving more orders for small quantities, but our current full rotary machine is not ideal for that,' stated Inderchand Kumawat, director at Sapna Label House.

Rakesh Patel of Wanjie India emphasized the importance of prompt service and support in securing the deal. 'That was a significant factor in our decision,' Kumawat confirmed.

Sapna Label House evaluated three to four press manufacturers before selecting the Wanjie Advance 350, citing its optimal balance of quality, features and cost.

'It is the best machine in our budget out of all the brands we evaluated,' Kumawat noted.

The press's automatic plate punch machine completes jobs in four to five minutes, offering significant productivity gains for short-run work.

'This feature will help us improve our production capabilities. We'll be able to print more short-run jobs in less time,' explained Kumawat.

The machine's rotary die-cutting unit, paired with rapid registration adjustment, enables faster project turnaround. The intermittent handling minimizes waste and speeds up delivery.

Sapna Label House plans to focus the new press on two key segments: small-quantity labels and pharmaceutical work. The converter's previous setup lacked integrated cold-foil capability for pharmaceutical and luxury packaging operations.

'We do a lot of pharma and semi-luxury work, and the Advance 350 is geared up well for that,' Kumawat added.
