Spande breaks ground for new Shanghai HQ

The company invests 38.8m USD for its new headquarters in Maqiao Town.

Spande has concluded its groundbreaking ceremony for the new headquarters in Maqiao Town, Minhang District, Shanghai on April 20, 2026.

The new base is located in the Shanghai Maqiao Artificial Intelligence Innovation Zone, covering a construction area of 30,000 square meters. The total investment in the new base is approximately 265 million CNY (38.8m USD), and it is expected to achieve an annual output value of 1.7 billion CNY (250m USD) and a tax revenue of 75 million CNY (11m USD) by 2030. The new base is expected to be completed in early 2027. The Shanghai Maqiao Artificial Intelligence Innovation Zone, this national-level AI highland, is rising as a world-class ‘city of the future’. In this area, the industrial foundation is solid, various resource facilities are complete and abundant, and transportation is convenient, with only a 30-minute drive to both Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports. Here, it will become the core base for Spande to optimize its management, significantly enhancing production capacity, manufacturing quality and delivery capabilities.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Steven Ye, the company's general manager, said: ‘The groundbreaking is not only a starting point but also a commitment. Maqiao Town, strategically situated within the southern industrial core zone of Minhang District, Shanghai, serves as the departure point for the China-Europe Railway Express (Shanghai). It hosts the annual Shanghai ATP Masters 1000, the only tournament of its category in Asia. The Maqiao Artificial Intelligence Innovation Zone, recognized as one of Shanghai's four major core areas, is home to over 2,000 enterprises, including 24 Fortune Global 500 companies.

Beyond its strong industrial foundation, Maqiao is deeply rooted in historical and cultural significance. Recognized as the cradle of ancient Shanghainese civilization, the 4,000-year-old Maqiao Culture is often regarded as ‘the origin of Shanghai’. Historically, successive national leaders have cared about and visited Maqiao successively.
