Fujifilm confirms European Jet Press 720 orders

- Brings total number of worldwide orders to 19 and ‘validates interest’ in B2 digital inkjet press seen at Drupa
- European orders will be fulfilled in early 2013
Fujifilm Europe has confirmed two orders for its Jet Press 720 B2 digital inkjet press from "visionary" printers based in Austria and France.
The European orders bring the total number of Jet Press 720 units ordered to 19 since the first nine for customers in Japan, Canada and the US were announced at Drupa 2012 in May. Since then, a further eight have been booked in these markets, with a further two now confirmed for European customers.
Yasufumi Morimoto, senior vice president at Fujifilm Europe, said: ‘The sale of two Jet Press 720 presses in Europe validates the high level of interest that we saw at Drupa earlier this year.
‘Both of these printers were impressed by the outstanding quality and productivity of the Jet Press 720, and we are confident that the introduction of the press to their businesses will help them reap the benefit of new printing applications and realise greater profit potential.’
The Jet Press 720 is a four-color digital inkjet press capable of printing a B2 sheet in a single pass, resulting in production speeds of up to 2,700 B2 sheets an hour.
It makes use of Samba print head technology to achieve resolutions of 1,200 x 1,200dpi with four variable dot sizes. By applying a primer to the printed sheet prior to imaging, the Jet Press can print onto standard offset coated and specified uncoated papers.
Once imaged, the B2 sheet can be treated like an offset sheet, dropping into existing finishing equipment, with many special finishes possible.
The European orders will be fulfilled in early 2013.
