Birmingham, UK-based converter Excel Labels has installed an Elite DTR servo die-cut to register slitter rewinder from Bar Graphic Machinery.

Andrew Keatinge, managing director, commented: ‘Having relocated in January 2010 to a larger bespoke manufacturing facility, we have been undertaking a significant investment program in new capital equipment. Purchasing a new digital label press created a need for a versatile finishing system that would allow us to convert the digitally printed labels. We researched the market both home and abroad and opted for a BGM Elite 370 DTR die-cut to register slitter rewinder. We soon came to realize we had made the right decision; from start to finish the company’s handling of our order was exemplary.

‘The machine was built for us with the addition of an over- lamination unit to further enhance finished labels, the delivery and installation being on time and trouble-free. Since the machine’s arrival we have been delighted with the ease of set up and job changeovers times. Print to die register set up is so simple, we are up and running within approximately three to four linear meters of material; achieved using the automatic registration mode.

‘Accuracy was something we had to be very mindful of: needing to run at high speeds to ensure commerciality, the DTR machine surpasses all our expectations, running up to 150 meters per minute in registration mode. We are proud to have found such a versatile and well-made machine from a British company, having the reassurance that ongoing support is not at risk of being compromised.’

Daniel Craig Carr, sales manager of Bar Graphic Machinery, added: ‘We are delighted that Excel Labels decided to purchase a new Elite servo die-cut to register slitter rewinder. One of the DTR’s outstanding functions is that the operator need not enter the repeat size of the cutter on the HMI operator interface; and more importantly, it is not necessary to change or modify any gearing on your existing tooling, this being a major advantage on set up down time.’
