Four MPS packaging presses sold since Labelexpo Europe launch

MPS has reported sales of four EF-packaging (EFp) presses since the machine’s launch at Labelexpo Europe 2009 in Brussels, with several other prospective deals reportedly in the pipeline.

The EF-p brings MPS’s flexo print technology to the packaging market in a press with a 26 inch web width that runs up to 300 meters per minute. The company developed a heat management system to deal with such a width and speed of production, while the press is equipped with the latest GEW water cooling technology. The integrated MPS Crisp.Dot technology leads to a minimal dot gain, a full round dot, good ink coverage in solid areas and sharper printing of smaller fonts. The press is also equipped with MPS’s Lean Inking system and iControl operating system.

The four machines sold will all produce different products – wrap-around sleeves, shrink sleeves, yoghurt lids and in-mold labels. The flexibility of the press allows a variety of printing and converting units to be integrated, including screen, gravure, laminating, hotfoil and coldfoil.
