Sample preparation and coating system specialist RK Print Coat Instruments Ltd, Litlington, UK, has supplied Toyochem with a third FlexiProof 100.
Tom Kerchiss, RK’s managing director says: “Singapore has developed into an international print center, with print accounting for exports in 2003 of $600 million. Ideally placed geographically, this Island State supports more than 500 printing and converting organisations, most of which utilize state-of-the-art equipment. Singapore also has a thriving flexographic print segment, served by ink manufacturers such as Toyochem and Qualinks. The latter has also purchased a FlexiProof”
A high export earner for RK, the Flexiproof 100 is being used by ink, resin and substrate producers, as well as label printers and converters worldwide.
The Flexiproof 100 and sister system, the Flexiproof with integrated UV curing facilities, enable users to accurately simulate flexographic printing for all pre-press applications, from computer color matching to customer presentation samples, and from research and development to printability testing. Ink suppliers such as Toyochem also utilize the Flexiproof for quality control testing and to ensure consistency of performance over time.
RK unveiled the new FlexiProof with UV curing at Labelexpo Singapore in November, attracting visitors to their stand from all over Asia and as far away as Australia and New Zealand. Tom Kerchiss says that proofing and curing inline at high speed enables the new Flexiproof with UV curing to highlight problems with ink that would be difficult or impossible using conventional proofing. For example, pin holing cannot normally be captured when a conventional proof is made then taken to a UV conveyer because by this time the surface properties will have changed.
