Hubergroup accelerates sustainability strategy with new leadership appointment

Ink specialist names first head of sustainability and achieves EcoVadis Bronze Medal.

Ink and chemicals specialist hubergroup has accelerated its sustainability journey with the appointment of Silke Siebeneiker as its first head of sustainability, publication of its inaugural sustainability report and achievement of a group-wide EcoVadis Bronze Medal.

The company appointed Siebeneiker to the role on April 1, 2025, reflecting its commitment to ESG principles within its corporate structure. Under her leadership, hubergroup aims to advance its holistic approach to sustainability, combining environmental, social and governance criteria.

'Sustainability is the foundation for shaping the future of our industry. We need to rethink processes, drive innovation and create meaningful value that benefits our customers, our people and the wider society,' commented Siebeneiker. 'By embracing a 360-degree approach, we ensure that sustainability is embedded at every level at hubergroup, from strategy and operations to culture and community.'

The appointment comes as new shareholder Mavnu, which acquired hubergroup in April 2025, actively promotes the company's sustainable commitment.

'Sustainability is at the core of our corporate strategy,' explained Premal Desai, CEO at hubergroup. 'From eco-friendly products and resource-efficient production to social and economic responsibility, we're committed to driving real impact. With Silke leading our global efforts and strong support from Mavnu as our new shareholder, we're set to take our sustainability ambitions to the next level.'

In March, hubergroup published its first global sustainability report. The company subsequently received its first group-wide EcoVadis Bronze Medal, placing it among the top 35 percent of companies assessed worldwide in the last twelve months.

The recognition builds on assessment of environmental issues, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. It values hubergroup initiatives including renewable-powered production, payment of living wages and promotion of a multicultural management team.

'Applying for our first group-wide EcoVadis certification was the kick-off for a truly global approach to sustainability,' noted Siebeneiker. 'Sustainability is a key driver of financial resilience and strategic growth for hubergroup.'

Looking ahead, hubergroup aims to align with global reporting standards and enhance its EcoVadis and CDP ratings. This includes establishing a PCF calculation system and improving data quality in CCF determinations. The company is also integrating climate risk analyses, emissions reduction workshops and digital ESG tools into its global operations.
