The new equipment is the second investment in BGM machinery by Aztec Label. It is a fast, compact, and robust free-standing label die cutting machine offering rotary die cutting speeds up to 250m/min and is claimed to be the fastest machine on the market in its class.

The Elite eDSR features independently driven, electronically controlled waste and product rewind systems, incorporating independent variable tension control, which eliminates the inconsistent tension problems typical of high maintenance mechanical clutch systems used in traditional machines. This design also runs efficiently on a standard 13 amp 230V plug.

‘While not obvious to most, this latest technology from BGM means we can further minimize our energy use to support our sustainability strategy, while again enhancing our productivity,’ said Colin Le Gresley, managing director of Aztec Label. ‘We’re actually returning power to the grid from our solar power investment last year, which is an amazing turnaround from where we were. Now investing in these types of technology that simply plug in like a basic tool, we can save costs while boosting our quality and efficiency.’

Daniel Carr, sales manager at Bar Graphic Machinery added: ‘As an industry leader in the development of proven, technically creative, and high quality finishing equipment, we know that having solutions that not just do the job but future-proof our customers’ operations is the key to long term business relationships and success.

‘Aztec has already installed a BGM Elite 410iSR inspection slitter rewinder, which has proven itself over the past year and we were delighted to work with Colin and the team again on the latest investment plan. All BGM machines are designed and built in-house so we have the unique ability to tailor our equipment to our customers’ specific requirements and this came to the fore with this latest machine investment.

‘Aztec needed complete flexibility to maximize the finishing department’s capabilities. The BGM Elite eDSR can be used as a die cutter and/or a conventional slitter rewinder. Importantly, it incorporates a range of high specification features more commonly found on more expensive machines as standard, including automatic unwind braking with adjustable roll end, reversible rewind and machine diagnostics.’

Le Gresley added: ‘The machine flexibility was important to us, but we also found it fast and easy to load. It enables our operators to load the dies into the machine without fuss, as the weight of the die is supported by a bottom guide rail. It has also therefore improved the operator set up time, optimized handling and minimized damage from incorrect loading, which has also boosted our productivity and minimized any waste. All in all, this investment has enhanced our quality and efficiency and we’re delighted with the result.’
