Dot Foods increases efficiency with Teklynx Sentinel label automation system

One of the largest food industry redistributors in the North America, Dot Food, has invested in the Sentinel automation system from Teklynx to increase print speed and labeling accuracy of over 300 printers within 14 distribution centers.

Dot Foods, experienced growth within their 14 distribution centers located in the United States, Canada and Mexico, which prompted a re-evaluation of its operations and drove demand for new, modern label templates as well as new printers to satisfy the labeling needs.

With its previous label design software provider, Dot Foods was struggling to meet security requirements with the internal high availability standards and was using outdated label files that had difficulty communicating with modern in-house printers.

‘We were using a different platform from a different vendor and we were outgrowing them as well as having trouble with support,’ said Troy Schenk, Dot Foods warehouse systems manager. ‘We looked at about a dozen different software vendors and then chose Teklynx to be our label platform moving forward. We chose it because of the support and ease of use. The partnership was a good fit for us.’

According to the company, a multi-location implementation of Sentinel technology significantly improved labeling accuracy, efficiency, and industry compliance. It also led to other labeling efficiencies such as automated instantaneous print jobs to over 300 printers across North America, seamless integration with internal Android applications and compliance with internal security standards.

‘One of Teklynx’ greatest assets is our ability to work in close partnership with our customers to help them barcode better,’ added Doug Niemeyer, general manager at Teklynx. ‘We take great pride in knowing that our enterprise-level automated label printing solution improves accuracy and increases efficiency, positioning Dot Foods to keep driving growth within the food industry supply chain.’
