Flower City Printing adds KBA Rapida 164
Flower City Printing, an in-store signage and packaging expert headquartered in Rochester, New York, has purchased a specially-configured 7-color, 64in-wide KBA Rapida 164 to meet its customers’ requirements for higher quality color with greater productivity.

Flower City Printing was founded in 1970, and after transitioning into a commercial printing firm purchased its first large format press in 1991 to accommodate a client that needed litho labels.
Success in the large format market, particularly retail, led to the purchase of two 64in presses between 1995 and 1998. To accommodate the additional growth, the company moved its headquarters and manufacturing operations to its present 135,000 sq ft location in 1998. Additional expansions have since increased operation size to 375,000 sq ft in three locations on a total of 35 acres of land.
Its capabilities today include offset, flexo and digital printing, as well as finishing and warehousing.
Flower City Printing’s new KBA Rapida 164 is equipped with a coater, and KBA’s automation and drive technology, including the DriveTronic SIS sidelay-free infeed and the new ErgoTronic console with integrated measuring systems.
The press is due to be delivered to Flower City Printing in 2015.
William Oliveri, president and chief executive officer of Flower City Printing, said: ‘Catering to an incredibly diverse group of high-end packaging customers, our management team is always taking the pulse of their needs. After all, it’s been our loyal customers’ success that has enabled our company to grow along with them and invest in the very best equipment.
‘Our goal is to exceed our customers’ expectations each and every day. This new KBA Rapida 164 press is certainly in line with that goal as we improve our capacity and turnaround time and add this new highly-automated model to our pressroom.
‘This investment allows us to meet our clients’ growing requirements for higher quality color with greater productivity.’
