Pregis invests US$6m in new blown film line in Michigan

Pregis is investing approximately US$6 million in a new blown film line at its facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan, addressing growing demand for output from its films business.

The latest investment, totaling US$6 million, follows an initial US$17 million investment in blown film production by Pregis in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Pregis Films makes high-quality polyethylene film for a variety of applications including packaging films, sealant films, lidding and more. This second multilayer blown film line from Windmöller & Hölscher follows an initial US$17 million outlay for the first five-layer line, converting equipment and expanded production space.

In addition to the two blown film lines, the 90,000 sq ft Pregis Films manufacturing facility in Grand Rapids also houses four state-of-the-art multilayer blown film extrusion lines and a film lab.

Tom Wetsch, chief innovation officer at Pregis, said: ‘We are seeing increased demand for higher quality flexible packaging, e-commerce protective material and surface protection films. Our continued investment in this facility will help us meet market segment expectations for package performance and provide vertical integration for some of Pregis’ other products.’
