Xeikon ICE pleases printer in beta tests
German self-adhesive label specialist bsb-label has been conducting beta tests on Xeikon ICE, as the printer looks to meet the growing want of its customers for labels made from heat-sensitive materials.

bsb-label, an independent arm of Bielefeld-based printers bsb-bentlage, installed a Xeikon 3300 digital press in August 2011 to expand its digital web-fed print offering, and has been trialling the Xeikon ICE toner since January this year.
One of the key drivers for bsb-label’s decision to invest in a Xeikon 3300 press was the ISEGA certification of the QA toner, and thereby usability in direct contact with food in accordance with FDA regulations. This advantage extended the bsb-label product range considerably for the food industry. In January 2013, bsb-label began beta testing Xeikon ICE.
Xeikon announced the launch of ICE earlier this summer, and will show it as part of its presence at Labelexpo Europe 2013.
Brigitte Alers, managing partner of bsb-label, said: ‘The tests we perform in the lab have proven the outstanding print quality and fade resistance of the ICE toner as well as its opaque white result.
‘Since we are constantly developing individual customer solutions with the help of our development department and the laboratory, we welcome innovative developments by the system manufacturer. The demand for PE products from our customers is high, so we are pleased to have found a fitting solution with the ICE toner.’
