| Showed savings on costly material

UK-based press manufacturer K2 International recorded a successful Drupa 2012 thanks to a six-color FastAction flexographic printing press on show on its stand.

K2 said the full specification FastAction press (pictured, top) showed a short web path design equipped with UV curing, servo drive and digital print head for variable data and barcodes.

The FA FastAction press is available for both narrow and wider web labels and packaging applications up to 800mm and can be supplied with up to 12 printing units for processing UV or water-based inks. Standard equipment includes PLC touchscreen controls, automatic web tension, print and die stations of equal height for safer operation, ceramic anilox rolls and fast action print and die stations.

Options include rotary cold foil stamping, UV laminating, sheeting, fan folding, 100 percent print face inspection and remote diagnostics.

Refined technology

Managing director Russell Oddy said: ‘The show was very well attended and visitors to our stand came from all over Europe, Middle East and Asia.

‘We had high-quality interest in the featured press as opposed to just a general level. The machine is now more refined and features several design upgrades.

‘In particular this new press has a short web path which means less material waste in setting up and indeed running. This provides considerable saving when using some of the very expensive materials now demanded by the packaging industry.

‘We printed a PP label showing the high-quality potential of the press and demonstrated variable data barcodes and numbering applications.”
