KBA claims China success at Drupa

Germany press manufacturer KBA is on course to welcome more than 300 representatives from the Chinese commercial and package printing industries to its stand at Drupa 2012, a marked increase from previous editions of the exhibition.
KBA said it hosted around 50 in 2004, with double that number in 2008. The 2012 figure is six times the 2004 total, and three times the 2008 attendance.
May 11 saw KBA host a special series of events for 100 print professionals from 40 commercial and packaging plants.
The programme began with a tour of KBA’s sheet-fed offset production plant in Radebeul, where they were shown the manufacturing and assembly halls, customer showroom and in-plant training centre. This was followed by tours of various KBA reference installations. On the way from Radebeul to Düsseldorf they watched a production run on large-format Rapida press lines at Walter Grieger Offsetdruck in Nettetal, a highly successful mid-size family enterprise. The 8,000 sq m (86,000 sq ft) production plant with around 100 employees prints displays, brochures, catalogues, packaging and posters for brand manufacturers. The press room houses five KBA presses – three Rapida 162s, one Rapida 142 and one Rapida 105.
KBA said that among the Chinese visitors were both KBA users and prospects who have yet to install a Rapida press. In addition to the organized groups a lot of print shop representatives traveled individually to the KBA stand, and sales contracts have been signed almost every day at Drupa.
