Baker Self Adhesive Materials has been appointed as a preferred distributor of 3M self-adhesive label materials in the United Kingdom.

Commenting on the appointment, David Richards, manager, said: ‘We have identified a market opportunity that will meet the needs of smaller labels printers not currently serviced directly by 3M. Our plans are to work in partnership with 3M when technical enquiries and new projects arise and to also stock and promote the most popular product grades as indicated by surveys we conducted with label printers.’

The partnership is the result of 18 months market research working closely with the sales and marketing team at 3M with the purpose of making its products available on a next day service. Baker Materials will initially hold stocks of Polyesters and Vinyls clearly identified with 3M product codes, with plans to expand the range over the coming year. All products will be offered on a nett width basis removing the need for minimum quantities.

‘We see the partnership with Baker as a really important part of our continuous improvement plan,’ explained 3M UK marketing co-ordinator Anna Kellechan. ‘The arrangement gives us the opportunity to work more closely with a wider range of customers within the UK label converting market.’

The addition of the 3M products strengthens the range of security, automotive and high specification materials already available from Baker Self Adhesive Materials. The company is an official HP Indigo Treatment Center and the official distribution centre for Fasson, Madico, Arjobex and Tyvek.
