UK-based press manufacturer Edale will move next year to a new custom-built headquarters in Whitely, between Southampton and Portsmouth . The company is currently based in Romsey, Hampshire, 20 miles from its future location ‘The company’s development over the last ten years has seen a major culture change,’ explained managing director James Boughton, pictured . ‘From designing and manufacturing small to medium-sized flexographic presses, we have moved very firmly into the commercial security sector, with larger and more complex RFID and multi-layer machines. Edale ’s four market sectors are commercial security, flexographic printing, special converting and digital printing.

‘It is important that our image and brand positioning be reflected in our offices and factory, which we feel is not achieved in our current premises. The level of skills we have at Edale in our highly-experienced workforce, design team and R&D department, mean that the machines and services we offer are of a very high standard.

‘Our class-leading compact Alpha flexo press and modular inline presses are still very popular with label printers, both in the UK and overseas. The demand for the Alpha and Beta models alone caused us to take on extra premises back in 2004. With our larger Lambda and, soon to be launched, Gamma presses also finding approval amongst printers and converters all over the world, we also needed to consolidate our production.’

Planning permission for the 50,000 square foot (4,650 square meter) facility at Whiteley has already been granted. Edale will initially occupy 25,000 square feet with expansion possibilities of an extra 7,000 square feet.
