Ricoh Electronics, Inc (REI) was one of just 38 organizations and individuals recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency at the Environmental Awards Ceremony on April 16.

This program recognizes organizations and individuals throughout several western states who protect the environment.

In fiscal year 2006, REI diverted over 7,000 metric tons of waste from landfills. REI employees are encouraged to implement waste reduction and sustainability improvement activities. These improvements saved almost $3 million on an annual basis in fiscal year 2006.

‘At REI we believe every action, whether large or small, which reduces our environmental “footprint” is important. That is why our employees are encouraged to improve work processes to reduce our environmental impact. We will continue to make environmental conservation a top priority in order to make a positive difference in the world,’ explained president Shunsuke Nakanishi.
