Porta Sistemas in Tarragona, Spain, has become the first Intec partner to buy the Edge 850 desktop label printer. iSys Label appointed UK-based Intec Printing Solutions as exclusive distributor of the Edge 850 digital label press  in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, earlier this year.

Andy Withall, technical and training manager at Intec Printing Solutions, visited Porta Sistemas to install the printer. ‘They demonstrated the Edge 850 at an exhibition in Spain, which went really well,’ he said.

The Edge 850 is a toner-based label printer for short to medium runs. Compact enough to sit on a desk, the Intec Edge 850 can print at speeds up to 9 m/min on a wide range of self-adhesive label and tag stock, approved films and synthetics with a media width of 216 mm.

The supplied Edge2Print software enables users to import the label design, and select media type from a certified media list, add registration marks where necessary, and print.

Intec has meanwhile announced the restructuring of its sales team, which now includes label expert Corrie van der Westhuizen, formerly Intec technical services director. van der Westhuizen has worked at Intec for over two years and has more than a decade of experience operating Indigo label presses.

Kerry Button, international sales director, said: ‘Corrie is well placed to lead this project for Intec and gives us the ability to find the right customers for the Edge 850. That is the fundamental key to our success. For instance, he knows about the differing requirements for specific industries such as food and drink.’
