Ashe Converting Equipment to unveil Diamond slitter at K2007
Slitting and rewinding technology specialist Ashe Converting Equipment is to unveil the Diamond slitter rewinder at the K2007 show.
Ashe Converting Equipment’s chief engineer Keith Fordham says that the Diamond is positioned price wise between the company’s Onyx ‘entry-level’ slitter and the Sapphire S2, a technological advanced 700 meter per minute slitter rewinder for converters with demanding workflow practices and challenging materials to process such as thin films, laminates, etc.
An example of an Onyx and Sapphire S2 will also be shown along with the Diamond at K2007.
Ergonomically designed and with a small footprint, the Diamond is configured for ease of installation, ease of use – and incorporates all of the components, all of the controls in a single one piece unit.
The Diamond is provided with a shaftless unwind with integral reel lift and the machine is all-electric. Designed to operate at speeds of up to 500 meters per minute, the Diamond can accommodate unwind diameter reels of 1,000mm and rewind diameters of 600mm.
Slitting possibilities include wrap and tangential, accomplished via a precision Sapphire-type dovetail mounted razor and rotary shear slitting system. A swing out female knife bar provides for easy slit width changes. Additional features include: flange mounted interchangeable rewind shafts and a pneumatic lay-on system. A two or three motor drive system is available.
Keith Fordham points out that the Diamond slitter rewinder will employ a vacuum ‘hug drum’ as the main pull roller in place of nip (used to great effect on the Sapphire S2), thus giving full tension isolation between unwind and rewind. The Diamond will be available in standard widths of 1100, 1300 and 1650mm.
Keith Fordham concluded: ‘The addition of the Diamond to our product line up enables Ashe as a company to meet the budgetary and processing requirements of all types of customers – anywhere in the world.’
