Avery Dennison launches next generation of Global MDO

Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials has launched Global MDO Next Generation, a semi-squeeze film that offers enhanced clarity, conformability and sustainability

Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials has launched Global MDO Next Generation, a semi-squeeze film that offers enhanced clarity, conformability and sustainability.

Global MDO Next Generation achieves a 60 percent improvement in clarity compared to the current MDO product. Combined with improved conformability across a wide range of squeeze requirements, the clarity enables maximum creative freedom and allows designers to create the clear-on-clear look.

The new product does not require a topcoat and comes out of production with shelf-ready clarity. The new film can also be combined with printing and decoration techniques for expanded design possibilities.

Global MDO Next Generation also offers enhanced sustainability with Avery Dennison’s CleanFlake adhesive technology, which helps to ensure it separates cleanly from PET containers during the recycling process. When compared to Global CO-EX, the new film reduced energy, water use and waste by 22 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by 21 percent.

‘Global MDO Next Generation represents a significant advancement in our semi-squeeze product offering that was made possible by Avery Dennison’s commitment to continuous innovation,’ said Riley Nay, film product manager of Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials.

‘We’re constantly listening to feedback from our converter customers and brands. With improved clarity, conformability and sustainability, this technology offers brands and converters the opportunity to flex their creative muscle and deliver packaging that not only stands out on the shelf, but also addresses consumers’ desire for sustainability,’ concluded Nay.
