Chili updates its Publisher software

Software specialist Chili publish has unveiled the latest label and packaging update for its publisher package, which now includes new barcode generator, a mixed ink option and a step feature in the PDF generator that optimizes workflow.

Chili updates its Publisher software with new barcode integration, mixed inks option and step feature in PDF

The new barcode generator supports GS1-compliant codes and can design and manipulate pharma 1 bar Laetus codes connecting them directly to PIM systems for product tracking and tracing. The enhanced barcode integration also extends to PDF417 standard, especially important for businesses operating in transport and logistics and those working in government-connected organizations.

Software users will be able to take an advantage of new mixed ink swatches. This addition provides the flexibility needed to manage the overprint and knockout of objects in the intuitive way. Users are now able to combine one or multiple CMYK colors with a spot color in one process, enabling them to both print a colored shape or piece of text with an additional layer.

The ‘step’ feature in the PDF generator now supports data-sources, allowing every instance of the design to be uniquely variable on the final printing sheet. The software enables drawing information from VDP (data source production) to create large quantities of similar labels with the variable changes if necessary. This feature optimizes the print process by eliminating additional workflow steps and imposition tasks.

‘Chili publisher is shaped by its diverse and ever-growing user base, and their unique requests and needs drive every new update to the platform,’ said Ward De Langhe, chief technology officer at Chili publish. ‘Our people know what designers and prepress teams in packaging and labeling are struggling with, and it’s our job to help alleviate that stress by delivering enhancements that take away the cost and time-consuming need for manual intervention. Our community continues to drive us forward, and the latest update reflects that with our improved barcode integration, color registration support and ‘step’ labels.’

Chili publish CEO Kevin Goeminne, added: ‘We’re as passionate about packaging, labeling and the use of smart templates as our users, and that means delivering a solution that’s ready and willing to evolve with the demands of those designers and prepress teams. We’re only going to improve by keeping our finger on the pulse of deep technical issues and commercial roll-out, and our latest update reflects that mantra more than ever.’

The upgrade will be presented for during Printing United exhibition in Dallas, USA in October when Chili publish will showcase the new features and view the demo of Adobe Illustrator plug-in.
