The first product to be launched by Erhardt & Leimer’s new Print Inspection Business Unit – formed after the acquisition of Nyquist last year – will be shown at Labelexpo Chicago.

The Nyscan series 100% print inspection system Web:Inspector:2 is claimed to set a ‘new standard’ in resolution with its 6144 pixel inspection over the full web width. This high resolution is especially important in critical applications such as RFID label inspection, pharmaceutical labels and currency printing.

Nyquist founder and head of E&L’s Print Inspection business unit Dr Stephan Krebs said, ‘Whereas other print inspection systems struggle with the distortion of the web or the print and therefore the print inspection result suffers, the Nyscan Web:Inspector:2 is able to control reliably in high speeds due to the newly developed inspection algorithm called Pixel Registration. Pixel registration compensates distortions digitally.’

The system can be retrofitted on rewinders or on printing presses.

On rewind applications the Rollmap system database is used for automatic defect placement on the inspection table. Rollmap summarizes all defects in a virtual roll algorithm. The classification into four defect categories on the system monitor helps to decide what material requires further processing.
