Erhardt + Leimer will present a new lighting module at Labelexpo Europe 2007. The concept called TubeLight uses indirect light only. This is opposed to the Dome-Light or line light which are general practice today and which always include a certain inherent share of direct light.

The benefit of TubeLight is a diffuse light which is perfect for lighting complex materials such as embossed metal foils or metal foils showing unevenly reflecting surfaces. These materials, used by many label printers today for high-quality labels, can reportedly be checked with extreme accuracy thanks to this new inspection concept. ‘No matter whether embossed wine labels or highly reflective RFID antennas are involved,’ said the company in a statement, ‘the new TubeLight will produce a homogeneous image perfectly suitable for dependable inspection performance.’

The company is also launching a new graphical user prompting – which is claimed to set new standards for 100% print inspection for printed films and labels. With this new concept a job configuration requires just a few mouse clicks and changes in sensitivity can be made any time during production by simply pushing a slide control. This user-friendly concept nevertheless carefully respects the validation requirements and procedure. Changes are recorded to meet the ever higher quality standards at the print shops.
