Flexo Concepts introduces new doctor blade
Flexo Concepts, manufacturers of TruPoint brand doctor blades and MicroClean anilox roll cleaning systems, has introduced its newest doctor blade to the market. After six months of successful testing in the industry, TruPoint UltraFlex is now a viable option for printers who have traditionally turned to steel blades to meter their high line count anilox rolls.
‘For years, flexo printers producing high-quality work have had no choice but to use steel blades,’ said Kevin McLaughlin, president of Flexo Concepts. ‘Steel has always metered well for these applications but not without raising concerns spanning from roll scoring to workplace safety. We've always felt that printers should have another option and we were determined to find a solution.’
The blade is engineered from a thin weave fiberglass composite material which provides the same level of stiffness as a steel doctor blade while increasing blade life up to four times. It was designed as an alternative to steel for applications in the flexible packaging, tag & label, and offset tower coating markets.
‘Initial feedback from customers has been phenomenal,’ McLaughlin continued. ‘We've seen customers get four times the blade life with print jobs running on 1200 line count anilox rolls. It is our goal to continue developing new technologies to improve print quality and performance for today's flexo printer.’
