Flint Group adds EkoCure Shrink Whites

Flint Group Narrow Web has added opaque whites to its EkoCure series of UV LED inks, suitable for shrink sleeve applications due to the negligible heat levels generated on the web during the UV LED curing process.

EkoCure Shrink Whites are said to have ‘excellent flexibility, adhesion and printability’ qualities, and are suitable for use with a wide range of films, such as PVC, OPS, OPP, PLA and PETG.

EkoCure Shrink Whites are designed to provide more than 70 percent shrink, and, according to Flint Group, allows UV LED flexo narrow web converters to capitalize on the growing market for shrink sleeves as that curing process does not generate any IR heat.

EkoCure was developed using specially selected photoinitiators that match the narrow and targeted wavelength area that is typical for UV LED lamp output.

The overall EkoCure series includes a complete range of UV flexo inks, from all colours in the Pantone base range, as well as UV rotary screen whites designed for combination printing. The EkoCure ink range also offers metallic inks, varnishes and adhesives.

Flint Group Narrow Web won the Award for Innovation at the Label Industry Global Awards during Labelexpo Europe 2013. Flint Group was named joint winner alongside co-supplier and development partner Mark Andy.
