Focus has developed shaftless drive technology for its Proflex range of presses. The Proflex is Focus’ fully expandable, inline modular press, available in 250 or 330mm widths, combining efficiency and versatility with a modular design that offers flexibility. In particular, the company says its compact footprint offers a short web path and good accessibility for the operator.

According to Focus director David Lee: ‘A large proportion of our design and development resources were channeled into producing this new servo platform. In January 2008 we rolled out the first Proflex to use the new technology, and are planning to introduce the larger Webflex model with servo drive in the first half of 2009.’  The new technology will offer flexo printers more control.

To help reduce downtime, Proflex uses Rapid Change Print Cartridges, while its automatic plate throw off, constantly rotating anilox rolls and a new inter station drying system, combined with chambered ink ducts, give it a top speed of 130 m/min.  Focus says the Proflex is designed to print and convert a wide range of substrates, from 20 micron film, to foils, vinyl, plastics, labelstock, tickets and lightweight carton board.
