GFI Innovations announces automated formulation dispenser

GFI Innovations has announced its new Magnum automated formulation dispenser. Compact and affordable, ‘it makes the high-precision, high-speed mixing and dispensing of spot color (PMS) paste inks an effortless task,’ said the company in a statement. This new machine is designed for commercial printers, ink manufacturer's branches, or ink distributors looking to mix and dispense spot color inks in-house and on-demand.

The key to the Magnum's performance is its patented Accurex disposable ink cartridge. Equipped with GFI's unique valve, these cartridges offer a dispensing accuracy of 0.001-lb., with a dispensing speed of no more than eight minutes to produce a 10-lb batch. The Magnum's automated turntable holds up to 18 Accurex cartridges, and each can be changed out in less than 10 seconds.  Since it has no whetted parts, the Magnum can be switched from conventional sheetfed to UV paste - or back - in about 10 minutes.  

The machine is controlled by GFI's EvolvePro Software, which keeps track of PMS ink inventory, stores multiple ink formulations, and adjusts formulas to create new colors from PMS colors already in stock.

This dispenser/formulator handles a liquid viscosity range of 50 - 50,000 cps, therefore meeting the needs of both flexo and offset printing. Requiring less than 12 square feet of floor space, it operates from a standard 115 VAC, 15 A power outlet, and a 90-psi air source.
