Gidue introduces ultra-light print cylinders

At Labelexpo Europe 2007, Gidue introduced a new ultra-light print cylinder which the company says aids quick changeovers and ease of operation.

Gidue’s print cylinders, available in widths of 12” to 24”, weigh from 8-12kg and are made of aluminum. Compared to a standard cylinder, which can weigh up to 20kg, the ultra-light print cylinder provides time savings, as the cylinders are easier to carry and prepare, and simpler handling. The light print cylinders are available on all Gidue Flower heads, with widths of 370 and 430mm.

‘The light cylinders are a true response to the use of polyurethane sleeves or similar and nullify the weight factor,’ said Nicola Lezzerini, Gidue’s R&D project manager. ‘The choice of a sleeve press in the narrow web industry is not anymore a question of cylinder weight but relies on the nature of the work. When sleeves are needed, i.e. when seamless printing is required, Gidue is capable of providing a sleeve solution for Combat presses with a new mounting system.’
