GPA launches ‘eco-friendly’ substrate

GPA has launched an ‘eco-friendly’ substrate: Ultra Green Film. Unlike traditional paper, Ultra Green Film is manufactured without the use of trees, water or toxic agents including beaching chemicals.
‘The result is an environmentally responsible substrate that offers unrivaled visual quality, press performance and environmental impact,’ said the company in a statement. ‘Different from pulp papers, it has no grain resulting in a smooth surface that promotes high color saturation and resolution. This unique substrate combines the printability and converting characteristics of paper with the durability of plastic.’
Ultra Green is claimed to be resistant to scuffing, water, grease and oily substances, making it ideal for outdoor applications. It is also resistant to ultra violet rays, therefore it will not yellow or become brittle in the sun.
