High-performance label films made from sustainable resource

Now consumer packaged goods manufacturers can get the environmental benefits of a label made from a sustainable resource, without sacrificing any graphic or performance capabilities. EcoVantage pressure-sensitive label film from Green Bay Packaging Inc. is made from a polylactide (PLA) polymer derived from corn, not petrochemicals, appealing to consumers with growing concerns over the use of petroleum-based products.

Because EcoVantage film is made from an organic material, this proprietary polymer from NatureWorks, a Cargill company, is fully compostable and can be used as a valuable soil amendment.

EcoVantage film has a glossy appearance that provides superior shelf presence. The surface is specially treated for enhanced ink adhesion. With material handling characteristics similar to polyester, PLA film is stiff and strong for high-speed converting and dispensing. Labels made from EcoVantage film can be applied using standard label application equipment. EcoVantage is available in 1.6 mil clear and 2.0 mil white versions.

These new materials are an addition to the existing film line at Green Bay Packaging, which comprises a variety of clear and white face stocks, with permanent and removable adhesives, and film and paper liners.

The Coated Products Operations of Green Bay Packaging Inc. is a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive paper and films for a variety of labeling applications, including primary package decoration and variable information.  Headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Coated Products has three coating facilities located in Green Bay; Winchester, Virginia, and Mexico City.  In addition, material is slit and distributed from five other locations in the United States and three in Canada.
