Mactac unveils papers made from recycled fibers

Mactac has launched two semi-gloss papers made from 60 percent recycled fibers ands 40 percent virgin fibers, all FSC-certified.  

The manufacturing process of Velvet EF and MacCoat EF is claimed to require 35 percent less water and 20 percent less electricity, and to reduce the CO2 emission level by 20 percent, according to a carbon footprint calculation made by the Carbon Neutral Company.  

Velvet EF and MacCoat EF offer the same whiteness and mechanical properties as the standard Velvet and MacCoat papers and can be printed by all printing techniques. They also comply with the1935/2004 European norm on food products and are said to anticipate new European legislation identifying the content of recycled components and CO2 emission level of each fast moving consumer goods packaging. 

Velvet EF and MacCoat EF are coated with the company’s water-based MP 196 adhesive.
