MetalFX V2.0 launched
MetalFX is the new method of printing metallic colors, utilizing a base metallic ink and the usual CMYK set to produce thousands of striking metallic hues in one run of a five color press. Since its inception in 2002, this swatch-book and software based color specification product has taken the world by storm, gaining multiple awards, high exposure at international trade shows, and a network of printers and partners the world over.
MetalFX Version 2.0 extends this color range even further. This new-look range of packages now contain four ‘pocket-size’ swatch books, each printed with brand new MetalFX base inks.
The new gold base ink gives a warmer, richer range of metallic when printed inline with CMYK. It allows you to achieve warm metallic reds, striking gold and bronze shades, as well as new metallic blues, purples and greens.
The other two swatch books are now printed with the MetalFX Silvercoat base ink, a non-leafing silver that is actually enhanced by a sealer, giving premium results for a standard cost.
This new range of products includes a printer’s license pack, a graphic design kit, and an upgrade package for existing MetalFX Licensed Printers. Each contains the four pocket-size swatches, plug-in software compatible with all major platforms and a user guide.
MetalFX base and process inks are available from all ink suppliers.
MetalFX managing director, Andrew Ainge, commented: ‘The whole thing about MetalFX is that it is so easy to use. Not only is the creative impact of metallics vastly increased by being able to incorporate as many as you like in a five-color job, but it is the first completely measurable metallic system and it can be proofed and visualized onscreen. The new product takes this a step further – the color gamut is extended even further, colors can now be coated, and you can now easily share the new pocket-size swatch books around the office and carry them around.
‘In short, we are delighted with the new MetalFX Version 2.0 packages and, judging by the reaction at Graph Expo, so are the print and graphic design industries. We had Heidelberg, Komori and Sakurai all printing the new MetalFX system live at the show, as well as FujiFilm carrying out MetalFX proofs, and the results were outstandingly popular.
‘We are now looking forward to getting our customers off the ground with the new system, before launching new products next year such as a range of singular metallic colors to cater for the vast market without five-color presses.’
