Impika has unveiled its new color printing platform, PBX600, which is designed to meet the advanced label and industrial market requirements.

The full color printing press is the fruit of a collaboration between Panasonic and Impika, and contains a ‘new generation of printheads with innovative and very advanced fluid, data management and integration’, according to the company.

‘The remarkable aspect of this new printing platform is the combination of high resolution, high speed, full color and large web-web wide format  with a cost effective operation mode. It offers a new dimension in ink jet performance and reliability,’ said Paul Morgavi, CEO, Impika.

This new product strengthens the Impika range of industrial printing solutions by focusing the market of label, and flexible packaging. The commercialization of the PBX600 is planned for the last quarter of 2007, during Labelexpo Europe 2007.

The performances of this fast full color digital press is based on a new advanced ink jet printhead. The PBX600 has a native of 600x600 dpi printing resolution with the possibility to use fixed (11 picoliters) or variable drop size at a high speed up to 150 m/mn. When top quality printing is required with fine tonal gradations and features, the PBX600 uses the 4 drop sizes modulation ranking from 3 to 14 picoliters. In addition to these high level performances comes the large print width of 474 mm obtained by 29 jetting modules organised in one linehead jetting one or two colors through 22400 nozzles. This combination is claimed to obtain a full color printing system using only two lineheads with a very compact footprint.

This press will be on display and running at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels from 26 to 29 September 2007 at the Impika Booth 11Q15.
