Designed for color and monochromatic label printing, Sun Chemical’s SolarJet with Xaar 760 printhead technology will be demonstrated during Labelexpo Americas.

The SolarJet is Sun Chemical's latest generation UV inkjet printer designed specifically for the growing short-run, narrow-web label market. Built in partnership with Imaging Technology International (iTi), the SolarJet has been enhanced to allow printers and converters to produce shorter print runs (40,000 labels or fewer) quicker, more cost effectively and without sacrificing quality, claims the company.

SolarJet is equipped with Xaar 760 printheads, which provide a visual resolution of 900 x 900 dpi. Sun Chemical has used its expertise in the ink industry to develop its new SunJet pigmented UV inks, which have been designed specifically to optimize performance and deliver reliable, high-quality print on a range of substrates. The press can print at a speed of up to 80 linear feet per minute.

‘We appreciate the support we have received from Xaar in optimizing the print and performance of its 760 printheads for our new SolarDot ink set,’ said Jeff Wettersten, director, Digital Print Solutions, Sun Chemical. ‘The 760 delivers a proven combination of superb image quality with its grayscale technology, coupled with proven printhead reliability. The performance and flexibility features gained through the optimization work will enable converters a broader participation in the labels market on a wider variety of substrates.’
