Nordson Corporation has launched the new carousel wraparound labeling system featuring patent pending PatternJet gun technology.

The labeling system, a direct replacement for wheel-pot systems, features two PatternJet guns, one at the pick-up and one at the lap seam. A non-contact PatternJet gun applies spiral-shaped dots or swirls of adhesive to the body of the container before the label is applied. After the label is applied, the second PatternJet gun integrated into the magazine, applies a strip of adhesive to the lap seam, sealing the label end.

Nordson PatternJet labeling systems deliver ‘a significant reduction in adhesive consumption, fewer product rejects and lower overall maintenance costs’, according to a statement. The closed systems eliminate adhesive circulation and contamination from air, moisture and dust which can cause adhesive charring and degradation. Accurate application of adhesive to the can or bottle and label also reduces excess adhesive use and unsightly adhesive squeeze-out common with wheel systems.

Misalignment of bottles or cans typically caused by contact with adhesive wheels is eliminated, resulting in more consistent label application. In addition, deformed, irregular or odd-shaped cans or bottles do not negatively impact label application.
