Protective UV-barrier from Sleever
Sleever International has developed a new decorative UV-barrier Sleever concept whose transparency is claimed to reveal and enhance the product whilst providing effective protection against ultraviolet light.
In the beverages sector, natural, light and health concepts have never been so fashionable. Fruit juices focus on a health image and the origin of the fruit, while milk has invested heavily in the theme of active health. These innovations represent a major break with packaging standards, as cardboard containers give way to PET transparency on store shelves.
However for these light-sensitive products, transparency has to be combined with protection against visible and invisible rays to prolong shelf life and preserve the product’s organoleptic qualities.
The performance of the product is based on a new heat-shrink mono-oriented film developed by Sleever Technologies, the SI-OPS-TF/050-ZB, which is capable of blocking UV rays up to 370nanometers, whilst providing high shelf impact, tamper-proof, easy-opening and guarantee of origin properties to even the most complex bottle shapes.
Printable in up to 10 colors back and front, Sleever UV-barrier film can be implemented on fully automated at speeds of between 15,000 and 30,000 bottles/hour on the latest generation of Powersleeve Evolution 4 machines by Sleever Machines.
The first application on the fruit juice segment was for Slo Zumo, a 100% pure premium orange juice by the Spanish group Pascual in 200 and 750ml PET bottles and a high-impact, ultra-safe decorative sleeve.
This UV-barrier solution enables the group to add a new function to Sleever and further enhance this unique and innovative decorative solution that is capable of evolving in line with the changing needs of the beverages market.
