Printing ink manufacturer Ruco Druckfarben has launched its ‘3 in 1’ system for combination printing. Consisting of the new UVFX flexo ink series, series 985UV/NV inks for high-speed rotary screen printing as well as series 960UV printing lacquers, the system ‘opens up a number of interesting possibilities for the label industry’, says the company.

‘The new ITX- and silicon-free UVFX flexo inks are heavily pigmented and highly reactive,’ said the company in a statement. ‘In addition to their high opacity and high yield, they are outstanding for excellent curing and adhesion characteristics as well as very good printability at high speeds. Further important pros are high process stability in the print run and very low odor.’

Series 985 UV/NV inks were developed for the decoration of plastic films by high-speed rotary screen printing. The low-viscosity printing inks are highly reactive and come in a high-gloss formulation. 985UV/NV inks boast good resistance to solvents and water and are suitable for pretreated polyolefins (PE/PP), PVC, other pretreated plastic films as well as paper and cardboard. Good curing, adhesion and excellent flow are claimed to be guaranteed, even at high printing speeds.

High resistances and eye-catching advertising effects can be achieved with a wide range of series 960UV printing lacquers which are suitable for different application techniques and ideally round off Ruco’s ‘3 in 1’ system. They are available in various formulations – from high gloss and matt lacquers with high resistances to specific media, all the way through to special-effect lacquers such as series 960UV393 tactile lacquer. The latter was developed especially for achieving haptic effects so that people with poor of no vision can feel – and thus read – imprints on drug packages etc. All printing lacquers can be used for rotary printing and flat screen printing.

Optimum crosslinking characteristics of Ruco’s label printing inks ensure the inter-compatibility of the different inks series.
