Safeware launches software at annual conference

Chemical industry software specialist Safeware Quasar is to launch a solution to help businesses comply with complex new European legislation at its annual conference for existing and future clients.
REACH is the first in a new series of modules from Safeware designed to help the chemicals industry comply with REACH, the new European law on chemicals. The legislation came into force on 1 June 2007 and over the next 11 years will create a single database of all chemicals used in the European Union (EU), around 30,000 in total.
REACH – Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals – replaces more than 40 EU directives and regulations with the aim of better protecting human health and the environment and encouraging the chemicals sector to develop safer products.
Nottingham, UK-based Safeware Quasar will launch REACH at its annual User Conference, which takes place on 28 February 2008 at the Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club, in Meriden, Warwickshire.
REACH is a new module for Safeware Quasar’s software SDS Professional, or SDS Pro, the UK market leader for the production of safety data sheets (SDSs). Manufacturers and importers of chemicals, along with businesses working with chemicals for industrial or professional purposes, use SDSs to provide detailed hazard information on dangerous substances.
The module acts as a chemical inventory analysis tool, specifically designed to help companies to effectively implement the REACH regulations.
Simon Robinson, from Safeware Quasar, said: ‘REACH is just the start. We will continue to enhancing existing modules, and develop new ones, to assist companies to comply with the new regulations as they continue to evolve, and will be supporting the process with a series of workshops.
’We are committed to helping our clients achieve compliance with the REACH requirements by providing practical solutions and support to help them through a very challenging process.’
