Soma adds upgrades for Pluto II slitter rewinder

Soma Engineering has up-graded the design specifications of its Pluto II slitter rewinder.
An extra adjustable roller has been added to the system to compensate material short-comings in a diagonal direction, which is said to contribute to higher slit and rewind quality even when processing lower quality material. Software has been upgraded in the area using lay-on rollers giving a more accurate and constant impression value during the rewinding process. A new system for position setting of lay-on and dancer rolls provide for easy installation and operation.
A new optional slit-edge removal system, developed in partnership with an established brand, gives good removal and disposal of narrow slits (down to 5 mm) even when running flexible or fragile material such as thin papers and aluminum foils.
Options for Pluto II include AC servomotor to replace air braking at unwind and permit very fine films and foils to be processed; ionization bars to reduce static; individual lay-on rollers and a slit roll unloading system with stand.
With a maximum slitting speed of 550 m/min, and a width capacity up to 1,350 mm, the Pluto II allows for a wide variation in slitting material and format. Whether dealing with multiple laminate layers (up to 130 gsm), glass fiber laminate or co-extruded films, often characterized by variable quality, the slitter/rewinder can handle paper, PP, PET and other material from 0.015 to 0.060 mm.
