Springfield Solutions, a UK-based one-stop shop for brand management, digital print, and interactive media specialists, has launched Digican, a can packaging technology offering a full-coverage digital label.
Utilizing its digital print capabilities, Springfield has developed a new can decoration technology that includes a high-quality, full-coverage digital label that is first applied to the flat tinplate blank and then seamed into the top and bottom of the tin. The label bleeds into the seams giving the appearance of a fully printed container.
The benefits of Digican include no minimum order quantities, adding flexibility needed by brand owners toorder the packaging on-demand as opposed to purchasing large quantities. It also introduces reduced costs and storage requirements and offers nearly endless personalization of each can.
The new technology is available to brands across various industries that utilize cans in sizes between 100ml and 5 liters in both lever lid and cone top designs.
‘Digican allows brands to order packaging as and when it is needed, which is a stark comparison to the traditional methods of printed cans,’ said the company in a statement. ‘This allows brand owners to purchase your packaging in relation to demand, as opposed to buying large quantities to meet high MOQs. This also means less waste, as you no longer need to throw away redundant stock. Digican packaging is fully customizable, with the potential to include customer names using variable data printing.’
