Sun Chemical introduces eco-UV inks at drupa

Sun Chemical has introduced its ‘eco-friendly’ UV ink, called Suncure Advantage, which uses 30 percent sustainable materials. The twin challenges of high productivity at the highest press speeds, together with the need to source ‘sustainable’ materials, have resulted in this range of inks.
Available in a range of process inks, blending colors, Pantone PMS and soon the new Pantone GOE system, Suncure Advantage has lithographic properties and can be printed at maximum press speed on all the latest generation of UV curing offset presses, on a wide range of paper and carton board substrates. Opportunities for the formulators to use materials from renewable or sustainable sources have, until now, been strictly limited.
John Adkin, sheetfed product director, Sun Chemical Europe, said, ‘This is a genuine world first in UV printing. The new materials developed by Sun Chemical for Suncure Advantage provide a UV curing formulation containing about 30 percent materials from sustainable sources. As part of our commitment to customers and the environment, we will continue strategic research in this area to increase this level still further.’
