Sun Chemical offers Solaris Colorsat ink dispenser
Sun Chemical, in partnership with GSE Dispensing, has launched an automatic ink-dispensing system, enabling users of relatively low ink volumes to deliver ‘spot-on color accuracy, keep waste to a minimum and reduce ink formulation times’, according to a statement.
Combining Sun Chemical’s ink management experience with GSE Dispensing’s innovative engineering, Solaris Colorsat is designed to meet specific requirements of narrow web converters. The system is suitable for dispensing up to 10 Kg units of UV-curing and water-based flexo, screen and gravure inks. It has the capacity to mix inks from up to 20 components.
With proprietary ink management software for use with the Windows XP operating system, Solaris Colorsat makes precise formulations so the converter can quickly deliver the most challenging colors to brand owners’ exacting specifications. Typically, a 5Kg recipe containing four base inks is dispensed in less than four minutes.
Furthermore, the software calculates surplus ink press returns from previous jobs into new recipes – a complex task when recipes are prepared manually. Previous recipes are saved in a database and recalled as needed, ensuring an identical recipe is dispensed for color consistency. Other features include a space-saving footprint and simple assembly thanks to Solaris Colorsat’s ‘plug and play’ concept.
Jonathan Sexton, European product manager, Narrow Web Labels, said: ‘At Sun Chemical we are committed to helping printers reduce costs and optimize their special color mixing. The Solaris Colorsat dispenser now brings narrow web printers real savings and improved speed to press. We are delighted to work with a partner like GSE Dispensing to bring this innovative solution to market. The main features of the system are its simplicity; ease of installation and ease of use. With hardly any moving parts, it requires minimal maintenance.’
Anne Lourens, managing director of GSE Dispensing, added: ‘Good ink logistics make a vital contribution to enhancing printers’ efficiency and flexibility of service, especially with raw material costs rising so much. These are two key components for maintaining competitiveness today. The arrival of Solaris Colorsat helps the small-quantity user cut out waste and raise quality levels for a fast return on investment.’
